Lettuce Take the High Road
So many vegetables and so little time!
The agricultural haven still known as the Cameron Highlands was developed into a hill station, with zoning for agriculture and residences from 1925.
This was just a short while after William Cameron announced he had discovered it (1885- we think he probably licked it or put a flag in it after drawing a nice map).
In 1929 the BOH Tea Estate was established, the tea remains a household name in Malaysia. We can confirm that the unnecessary 400m climb to sample said tea on the estate was totally worth it and the views on the was back down were awesome.
Occupied by the Japanese during WWII and supported through the immediate post war era by British forces, the highlands have remained a veg lover’s paradise due to the fertile soil, frequent rain, buckets of sunshine, infrequent frosts and these day thousands upon thousands of poly tunnels.
